Seb Houlston

Seb is a 14-year-old dressage rider from North Yorkshire who has enjoyed a rapid rise through the sport since first sitting on a horse at the age of 11.

His riding journey began at a local riding school run by a show jumper, but Seb quickly discovered that jumping wasn’t for him. Instead, he found a passion for flatwork and dressage. His first pony, a cheeky Welsh C x Cob, was transformed into a dressage pony, and they won on their first British Dressage outing. Seb was hooked.

Things progressed quickly, and Seb was fortunate to lease the FEI stallion pony Godrics Dionysus, owned by Daisy Bullman and based with Moody Dressage. Under the guidance of Hannah Moody, he began training in May 2025 to compete at FEI Pony level. His first FEI Pony season was a successful one, achieving his international score at Vale View High Profile Show and securing selection for Hartpury CDI. Sadly, a significant growth spurt meant Seb outgrew ponies sooner than expected.

In November 2025, Seb partnered with Full Fusion BS, owned by Charlotte Lutener, to gain experience on his first horse. When Hannah asked what he wanted to achieve, his answer was clear: “I want to represent GB and go to the Europeans.”

Their partnership got off to an exceptional start, winning at Vale View Premier League in February 2026 with outstanding scores. They went on to achieve numerous wins throughout the season and made their international debut together at Hickstead CDI, finishing second. Further strong results at Wellington CDI saw Seb selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in the Czech Republic.

To represent GB in his first season at this level was a dream come true. Seb achieved two top-10 individual placings with personal best scores, helping the team secure a Bronze Medal. He and Full Fusion BS finished the season ranked 13th in the FEI World Ranking for Children on Horses.

In 2027, Seb will step up into Juniors with Full Fusion BS under the guidance of Hannah and Becky Moody. He is excited about the challenge and will also begin increasing his horsepower, with the aim of producing and training his own young horses. With his determination and competitive nature, Seb is certainly one to watch.
