Gemma Owen
Riding has been a big part of life for Gemma Owen, having ridden since the age of three and starting her dressage career at the young age of eight years old.
She represented Wales for successive years on her ex International pony, Daphne, and at the age of eleven, she was selected to ride for Great Britain U16’s on two ponies; Don Joshi and Der Kleine Lord.
Owen also represented Great Britain at U16 level at eight CDI’s across Europe and was shortlisted for the European Championships, with her best International performance being in Lier, Belgium where she took 2 wins and a second place in the three classes entered.
In 2019 Gemma moved up to U18 level and represented Great Britain at 5 Internationals during 2019/20 with her ride Sirius Black.
2020 saw their best International performance at Keysoe CDI winning the Individual Test and coming second in the Team Test.
Gemma joined SRPR at an exciting stage of her ridden career with her aim to campaign at U18 and U21 level Internationally, with the ultimate goal being the chance to represent Great Britain at the European Championships, which she achieved in 2021at Young Rider level.
In 2022, Gemma appeared on ITV2’s Love Island and earned herself runner-up position. Her Instagram following reached over 2.1 million as of September 2022, and she aims to continue pursuing her International dressage career, alongside growing her new business, OG Swimwear, and working with the brands that she represents.
