Emma Blundell – Mount St John

Mount St John is a private estate set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside in England and was the brain child of Emma Blundell. Specialising in the breeding of dressage horses of the highest standard and are currently breeding with around fifty quality dressage mares per season. This includes a high proportion of embryo transfers from elite sport mares currently competing. They also have several competition horses in training with elite dressage riders such as Charlotte Dujardin, Amy Woodhead and Greg Simms.

Emma made the decision not to stand any of her own stallions to give her the freedom to access the wide range of world-class stallions available throughout Europe.

Generally the Stud retains most fillies that they have bred and produce them to be ridden sport horses and some will become available to purchase at a later date. All colts that they breed are available on the market as foals. Mount St John strive to do the best for each individual horse, and tailor the care of each them to their bespoke needs and requirements whatever they may be.

Emma is a well known and respected face in the world of elite sport horse breeding, having attended Global events as a key note speaker on the topic, as well as being a supportive owner allowing up and coming riders within the world of Dressage to partner with her in the production of some of the best Dressage horses that Great Britain has produced. The Stud is a regular feature within key Industry publications as well as having featured several times on FEI.TV whilst at the same time maintaining it’s welcoming approach having successful hosted it’s renowned Open Days.

As well as being a renowned breeder, Emma actively competes herself up to International Small Tour level, with several key wins attributed to her and her riding partnerships over the years. She remains focussed into 2021 to deliver results from her breeding programme as well as her personal competitive results in the arena.
